Bridge Construction

The
bridge girders shall be fabricated out of steel plates welded together to
form a box. Butt welds are carried out on webs and flanges and radiography
test are done to ensure continuity of plates. In addition full length and
short diaphragms are inserted to transmit the trolley load to the web
plates. The cross travel rails are placed at the center of top flange. All
diaphragms shall bear against top flange.
The vertical deflection caused by the safe working load with crab in the
center will not exceed 1/900 of the span. The natural vibration dampening
time shall not be more than 15 seconds.
Travel Wheels
The wheels are forged out of En-9 material volume hardened to 280-300 BHN.
Each wheel is fitted with two numbers roller bearings of approved make
mounted on L- type bearing housings for easy removal & fitting.

Grease
nipple should be provided at suitable place for convenient greasing and the
grease be retained.
Crane Braking
AC operated thruster brake will be fitted on each individual gear box of
each motion. The brakes will be of post type with hinged shoes, lined with
good quality reinforced bonded brake lining and arrange for easy adjustment
for the necessary wear on lining time to time. As during power failure the
above thruster brake will apply and the crane motion shall stop immediately.
Hoisting Machanism
This will consist of rope drum fabricated out of seamless pipe duly stress
relieved and machined. The drum shall be of proper diameter as per the
standards and of sufficient length to take full amount of rope without
overlapping when the hook is in the highest position. When the hook is in
lowest position, there will be at least two full turn of rope remaining on
drum. The rope will be properly clamped at both ends The drum will have
right and left hand spiral grooves machined to suit the required size of
wire rope. The drum will be connected to the hoisting gear box with a
flexible geared coupling joint.
Crane Gear Boxes

The Gear box of all motion will be helical type of the required HP rating.
The casings will be M.S fabricated type duly stress relieved. The gears are
machine cut out of En-9 forged material duly hardened to 230-250 BHN. The
pinions will be machine cut of En-19 material duly hardened to 250-270 BHN.
The gears and pinions will be helical type. The output shaft and pinion
shaft will be mounted on ball & roller bearing of approved make. The
complete gear train shall be enclosed and oil lubricated. The two halves of
the gearbox casing are properly machined to avoid oil leckages. All the
extended shaft and end covers on gear box are provided with good quality oil
seal to prevent any leakage. Limit switches :
There will be an gravity type limit switch in addition to the geared rotory
limit switch for hoisting motion. Series type limit switches with single arm
spring loaded type will be provided for cross travel and long travel motion.
All limit switches shall be connected only in interlock circuit.
Rope Hook And Sheaves
The factor in safety will not be less than 6 / 8 for hoisting motion
depending on class. Sheaves shall be of M.S profile cut / Cast Steel duly
machined & mounted on ball bearings. Guards will be fitted to prevent
the rope sheaves with opening for wire rope entry. Even when the hook is at
lower most position to rest on the ground and rope allowed to fall slack,
the rope will not come out of the pulley groove.
Motors
All the motors will be 150starts/hour, 6pole, 40%CDF slipring type. These
shall be totally enclosed type fitted will ball / roller bearing. The motor
will have class 'B/F' insulation and will comply with IS: 325 according to
manufacturer standard. All motor shall be suitable for use of 415 V. 3
phase, 50 cycles, AC supply. The will should be of ALSTOM / BHARAT BIJLEE /
KEC make only and will be for crane duty application only.
Wiring :
The crane will be supplied complete with all wiring and materials. Junction
box on the crane bridge will be provided if necessary.. All Flexible wiring
will be with PVC insulated flexible unarmored cables having copper
conductor. All fixed wiring will be copper armoured. Wire and cable will be
of 1100V grade. The fixed cables will be laid in perforated cable trays
properly dressed. All electrical wiring and installation shall strictly
confirm to IS Act, 1910 and I.E.E. Rules. 1956 and other standard practice
as adopted by the I.S.I. All control terminations will be ferruled such that
the numbers are clearly visible from out side, crimped terminations will be
provided for control cables and as far as possible for main cables. Proper
earthing will be provided to the motor frames, control panel frames, crane
structures etc.
